Medical Marijuana Bill Coming to Kentucky
The Bluegrass State has a experimental CBD-only law but could go further.
Democratic House Speaker Greg Stumbo plans to file a full medical marijuana bill in Kentucky next week. It will likely mirror other recent state programs with just a handful of growers and dispensary sites.
The extremely limited CBD law passed and signed last year allows just two hospitals to experiment with extracts. However, the law provided no method of producing or obtaining the oils.
The state made headlines in 2014 when its first experimental hemp crop was harvested. Under a provision of the Farm Bill passed by Congress last year and existing state law the hemp was planted as a research project.
