Leading Scientist Helps Open Arizona Medical Marijuana Dispensary
Sun City Arizona’s first medical marijuana dispensary opened this week with a well-known scientific researcher on board as the Medical Director.
White Mountain Health Center Inc. is the latest facility to gain full approval from the Arizona Department of Health. The owners expect to begin serving patients this week.
The Daily News-Sun reports that Dr. Sue Sisley, a researcher whose focus is cannabis and PTSD, will serve as the Medical Director.
Dr. Sisley received a federal grant to study cannabis while working at the University of Arizona. The school then refused to allow her to conduct the research. But, in a positive turn of events, Sisley was awarded $2 million in a set of grants issued by the state of Coloradofor the same type of work.
Her new position at the Arizona dispensary is unpaid. Sisley will oversee the staff education and medical consultation services. White Mountain Health Center is focusing on senior citizens who require cannabis therapy.
Sisley told the Daily News-Sun:
“The older patients have multiple levels of illness with multiple medications, so it’s important to discuss possible interactions with each patient.” Read full source article
